Southern Annular Mode
The Souther Annular Mode is the dominate mode of extra-tropical variability in the Southern Hemisphere. It influences ocean temperatures, sea ice (Doddridge & Marshall, 2017), and rainfall.
The data shown here come from the Marshall SAM index (Marshall, 2003), and can be downloaded from https://legacy.bas.ac.uk/met/gjma/sam.html.
